Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T Features for Keeping Kids Safe
The Two Best Ways to Keep Your Children Safe With Cell Phones
Getting and staying involved with your children’s use of cell phones is the best thing you can do to maintain long-term safety for your children.
Of the technologies that are available, Geofencing and Text Message Monitoring are probably the most important technologies you can use to help your children make good decisions. Of all the vendors I researched, Verizon appears to have the best services for helping to keep our kids safe in the online world. Let me know if there’s other information we should be sharing.
A geo-fence is a virtual perimeter for a real-world geographic area. Geofencing, used with child location services, can notify parents when a child leaves a designated area.
Here are links to the various Geofencing plans that are designed for families by the four major cell phone plans. These plans can be used to track your child, have certain features activated depending upon where the child is and alert you when a child enters an area – such as a house or the school.
Monitoring Your Child’s Text Messages
Following is a list of services you can use with your mobile carrier to help protect your child:
- Verizon – See your child’s messages and texted pictures.
- Sprint – Can block messages, but may not be able to see the messages.
- T-Mobile – Message blocking is available.
- AT&T – Can’t directly monitor.
