Could your business’ suppliers lack of security cripple your business? Apple just found out…

Apple, like many smaller companies, depends heavily on a supply chain for the components of its winning iPhone and other products, but their supply abruptly stopped Friday night. A computer virus hit several supplier factories Friday night, dealing the company one of its most severe disruptions as it ramps up chipmaking for apple inc.’s next phones.

The sole maker of the iPhone’s main processor said a number of its fabrication tools had been infected, and while it had contained the problem and resumed some production, several of its factories won’t restart till at least Sunday.

[that’s the good news. Smaller companies hit with viruses often go out of business.]
