2019 was the year for Business Email Compromises also known as BEC attacks.  In fact, a majority of all businesses across the world became targets of these directed attacks involving their executives. While technology improvements did not seem to offer the desired reduction in attacks there was one thing that dramatically reduced the effect of these attacks on the organization and that was employee security awareness training.

Educating employees on how these attacks happen and some of the tactics that the hackers use is the best way to prevent the success of these types of attacks against businesses.
