Businesses In For Rude Awakening as CCPA Takes Full Effect

What use of technology do you use to give you the edge? Do you use outsourced technology platforms and services? Do you know what data you collect and where all your data is stored?

California’s Consumer Protection Act went into full effect on January 1. This law gives the residents of that state the right to know what information, precisely a business collects on them and the right to tell them that they do not have their permission to share or sell any of that data. Additionally, they are protected if a company fails to protect its data.

Instead of limiting CCPA protections to California customers alone, major companies, including Microsoft and Mozilla, are extending compliance across all US states. The next version of Firefox, for example, will allow users to request desktop telemetry data removed from the browser.
