CES 2016: QNX

You will probably encounter this company’s software technology without ever realizing it. This is a company whose operating systems technology is embedded in automobiles, medical devices and other life critical offering high levels of reliability and security. I make sure to interview them every year at CES to keep tabs on what advances they are making.

I spoke with Grant Courville, their Director of Product Management about the building block technology that they are providing auto makers that will further advance their automated driving systems. He told me that they are working with Toyota on an advance driver assistance system in their Highlander. Over 40 automakers deploy their technology.

Prior to Adept, Jellen worked 10 years with Danaher Corporation in successive roles of increasing responsibility, including Vice President & General Manager, Vehicle Systems Business in Stockholm, Sweden. As GM, Jellen oversaw a $100 million business with sales, marketing, R&D and operations in the U.S., the European Union and China. Earlier posts within Danaher included Vice President, Asia; Vice President, Strategic Accounts and Controls; and General Manager, Technology Business.

QNX Software Systems, a subsidiary of BlackBerry Limited, has established itself as a leading provider of operating systems, middleware, and development tools for connected embedded systems.
