CES 2016: Xumo

Many of us have cut the cable because they have not kept up with the way we want to view Television. We don’t want to buy a package of obscure channels when there are only 2-3 channels we watch. At Xumo they have developed a connected TV Platform.

I caught up with Colin Petrie-Norris, CEO of Xumo, to learn more about what they are doing. The goal at Xumo was designed to deliver an enjoyable experience to individuals no matter which device they are using.

Xumo has partnered with some of the largest TV manufacturers includin LG, Vizio, and Panasonic as well as others to integrate their platform into their 2016 sets. Xumo’s content is always fresh (WSJ, Newsy, Time , Bloomberg and Reuters) and can be viewed on the screen of your choice.

More from Xumo below, and keep listening to Craig Peterson’s Tech Talk.

As CEO of Xumo, Colin has successfully partnered with the world’s largest television OEMs to revolutionize the way TVs are programmed. With traditional Linear TV viewership declining, he recognized the need to change things up. As a result, he spearheaded an initiative that combined Linear TV with over-the-top (OTT) content creating a viewing experience that put content and the viewer first.

Colin has led a team of engineers to create Xumo, an intelligent and intuitive application that seamlessly integrates with Smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and desktops. Colin has also demonstrated expertise in content development by successfully brokering several relationships with multi-channel networks and individual Makers to make the most sought after digital content available through Xumo—streamable on any device.

His extensive background in establishing and building worldwide advertising networks has afforded him insider knowledge on how to best monetize digital content that is then passed along to each partner.

Xumo is a connected TV technology platform (the Xumo Platform) that provides advanced advertising and content services to device manufacturers, developers and content producers. The Xumo Platform can power both over-the-top (OTT) broadcast and video-on-demand (VOD) white-label solutions with dynamic ad insertion, content recommendations and social functionality. Leveraging technological advancements through which living room devices have become both connected and aware, Xumo offers multiple ways to reach, engage, and monetize consumers within the home.
