Spearphishing Mobile Devices of Executives

Many businesses today use mobile technology as a primary executive communication channel. However, what happens if these devices are lost or stolen. That often is when they find the executives becoming targets of highly targeted detailed messages that increase the attacker’s chances of success — known as spearphishing. These attacks are hard to spot without close inspection and difficult to stop with technical controls alone. In a recent report, it revealed the rate at which people fall for mobile phishing attacks has gone up 85% each year since 2011. Apple has addressed this with security features introduced in 2013, which resulted in a decrease of surging crime rates. However, criminals found ways to limit their effectiveness.
