Tackling Ransomware on Windows

Microsoft has 1 billion Windows-OS powered PCs in use worldwide which explains why they are such a big target for hackers.  There are a number of Windows security threats that everyone needs to be aware of including potentially unwanted applications or PUAs, crytocoin miners, vulnerability exploits, trojans, ransomware and fileless malware.  Number one out of all of these is Ransomware which has experienced and increase year over year of 74%. One of the biggest ransomware players has pulled out (at least temporarily) leaving an opening for new players who are eager to hold your data hostage. All the new ransomware players can be compared to “ants at a picnic” which will make it much harder for law enforcement or security researchers to catch them because they can’t focus there efforts on a single group.
