Good Morning Everyone!

I was on with Ken and Matt on WGAN in Maine. This morning, we went over a couple of things. I’m going to do some more detail on what is happened with Amazon and their new technology, More about Deep Fakes and what we are hearing. We talked about GE getting clearance for their AI powered X-ray technology and how it can save lives and of course we discussed the father of identity theft. Here we go with Ken and Matt

You know, sometimes I wonder if I should be saying some of these things, man, some people going to take it the wrong way. You know, this morning. I am Craig Peterson I was on with Ken and Matt. The interesting thing to me was I, you know, I try and be a little bit funny sometimes obviously, this is kind of a serious business that I’m in when it comes to security, that computer security, and stuff. But sometimes you got to be a little hide out and we’ll see how many how many people complain and how many people say they repeatedly like it. Anyhow, this morning, we went over a couple of things. I’m going to do some more detail on what’s up with Amazon and their new technology, and more on the deep fake voice thing. And we talked about GE winning clearance for their AI-powered X-ray and the father of identity theft. All of that are right now stick around. Here we go.

Matt
Hey, and we’re back. It is 739. It is WGAN. It is Wednesday morning, and it is time to talk to Craig Peterson, our tech guru. He joins us now as always, Craig, what’s going on?

Craig
Hey, good morning. Well, we’ve course got a few things, the big announcements from Amazon, GE with their new AI-powered X-ray system. And man, people are still running to Kaspersky antivirus, including the government.

Ken
By the way, did we mention that you can hear Craig hear on WGAN every Saturday? One o’clock right here on not only am 560 but 98.5
95.5You say?

Matt
What happened to 105.5?

Ken
Lots of surprises. We can’t tell. Yes, you can still hear us there for a little bit. But there will be a surprise coming there. So stay tuned. But turn your dials now to 98 five. So anyway, Craig, it’s time to talk to you so, and that’s why I was going to talk to you a little Alexa because you know, I have an Alexa thinga-ma-jiggy and I consider her a living entity inside that little dot that speaks to me. Like, I’ll be sitting on t he kitchen, and she’ll ask me, you say How you doing today? I’m look nervous about this? Is I think listening to everything I’m saying. I mean,

Craig
Yeah, this is, you know, man alive. You know, I don’t know, are they listening? Yes. But what’s she listening for? She’s listening for her wakeup words. She’s not sending. They’re sending everything streaming it all up to the cloud. So yeah, technically, I guess Can she is listening to you, but she’s not paying attention. It’s kind of like you and your wife’s hearing problems, and they get older. And for an odd reason. It tends to be the frequency of the wife’s voice. Yeah, I know. I’m in trouble. Now. I’m going to get some calls. So yeah, there was some announcements from Alexa here, or not from Alexa from Amazon about Alexa, you mentioned the Echo Dot, which is just one of their devices that can sit there and answer questions for you. It can take commands, for instance, you can get a like Alexa controlled lighting for your home, I have those, and you can get electric controlled switches, which I have in the chicken coop. So it automatically turns on and off the water, the lights and things like that. They get a lot of really cool stuff. But they have gone to the next level. Now. Now you are saying there’s a little woman inside there. And it turns out that Samuel L. Jackson is going to be inside you’re Alexa.

Ken
Yes.

Matt
Is he going to swear profusely at me when I start talking to them.

Craig
Just don’t talk about steak and you’ll probably be okay. So yeah, they’re going do celebrity voices. You know, we’ve talked before, about these deep fakes and how that are starting to appear all over the place. There are now a couple of thousand. I saw the number yesterday when I was looking at someone actually looked for them, found about 2000 deep fakes right now on YouTube, and, and they were everybody from the president, through celebrities, and others. Elon Musk seems to be a favorite target. What going to happen here now with Amazon is historically like with Siri and the Amazon, Alexa, it’s been sitting there, using the voice of someone, right? I don’t want to leave this way to this is they’ve had people women typically sit there and say every word that the Alexa might want to say. And we know it years past, we had these computerized voices, and they sounded very electronic. And now you notice how they seem to sound like people because they are people just like Soylent Green.

Ken
Well done. Well done, sir.

Craig
Right now, what we’re doing is they’re trying to change it. And there’s Samuel Jackson, and these other celebrities are not going to go through the 5000 words, to record them with different inflections and sayings. They’re just going to do some pretty basic recordings. Then they’re going to use the same type of technology used in deep fakes. And that technology is going to take the recordings and turn completely different words and phrases and everything else, which is quite interesting that Amazon’s calling this neural text to speech. They’re going to apply this in general now. Even with the pre-recorded voices that they’ve been using for years, and they’re trying to get it to be more “emotive and expressive”, which I think is great. It is going to sound more natural. So they’ve added a few other things. I’ve got Alexa Gard now, which is making a feature that makes your Echo listen for Windows breaking, or your co2 or fire alarms going off. Then it will call you up on your Alexa app on your smart device. It’ll let you know that heard something, and it will play it for you. You can expect this to go to the next level where it hears something, it sounds like maybe someone’s walking or perhaps someone talking in your home, and It will get so smart so that it knows it was your cat or your dog or something else safe to ignore. So there’s a lot of very cool stuff over at Amazon with the Alexa. And they, by the way, released a couple more than with screens and displays. These things are really good. They’re quite cool. And I’ve got a few of them around to as I mentioned.

Ken
We are talking to Craig Peterson tech guru extraordinaire, who joins the program at this time every Wednesday to go over what’s happening in the world of technology. What’s happening in the world of medicine, there are more developments towards AI doctors and AI medical technology, including apparently AI X-ray machines want to tell us a little bit that development here.

Craig
It is the first one ever to be cleared by our friends over the Food and Drug Administration. Apparently, there have been a lot of AI devices that get submitted for review. And in this case, it was General Electric. And they have a health unit, of course, and this is another way “they’re bringing good things to life” as they used to say. Its primary purpose is to detect collapsed lungs. If your chest gets pierced, your lung could collapse. However, it could also happen by various types of natural causes. And what GE is saying that it typically takes about eight hours to diagnose a collapse to lung now that includes waiting time for the X-rays, getting the radiologist to look at it, etc. With this new artificial-intelligence-powered-X-ray system it reduces that time from eight hours to diagnose a collapsed lung down to 15 minutes. They just announced this on Thursday. So it’s very, very cool. It is the first of many, by the way, collapsed lungs affected about 75 thousands of people in the US every year. With all of these images that we have from x-ray machines, and many of them are high resolution now. Getting AI involved is going to be quite useful for these situations. Because according to the statistics, I found, they’re saying that more than 60% of portable chest exams are marked urgent reading, but they aren’t all critical. So that ties up the radiologist on looking at things that aren’t really that critical. And something like this is a step in the right direction.

Ken
We are talking to Craig Peterson, our tech guru, by the way, you can go to Craig Peterson dot com, and you can hear him on Saturdays from one to three on 560 am or nine 98.5 FM. And we have another question for you. I’m because I’m an attorney and I love theft stories. The father of identity theft. I did not know was a father of identity theft.

Matt
Is there a mother?

Ken
Well, that’s a really good question. Are their mothers?

Craig
Well, I guess you could say this was this guy was the mother of all identity thieves. Right? But yeah, yeah. So yeah, identity theft something’s that has been going on for a long time. There havebeen a number of arrests over the last few weeks. Really good ones, they have shut down some of these denial of services, and Botnets. They have arrested people who have been very involved in the business email compromise. The FBI is warning that business email compromise’s are on the increase. Unfortunately, even though they arrested him, had multiple charges, and will probably serve 20 years if convicted, it is not going to make a big difference at all when it comes to identity theft. Because now everybody knows how to do it. And they’re all doing it. So we’re seeing a drop in denial of service attacks against our businesses. We’re seeing an increase in business email compromises. And this arrest unfortunately, can is not going to slow down these identity theive.

Ken
What a shame.

Matt
Well, Craig Peterson, our tech guru, bringer of doom, tells
us all about the miserable life we all live lead with technology joins us at this time every Wednesday. Appreciate it as always, Craig, and we will talk to you again that next
week.

Craig
Right, thanks.

Ken
But, you know, come on the Amazon story was a good story was a great
story. I suppose. So. Yeah. And you can hear Craig Peterson. This Saturday, at one o’clock PM. Here.

Matt
Did you see how Ken seamlessly worked that in? That explanation of his weekend show? Did you see that? Ladies, Gentlemen, that is the radio professional right there.

Ken
By the way, am I going to have any? Is it going to be the celebration next week?

Craig
Hey, guys, listen to this.

Matt
No somebody wants to buy a cake or, you know, there might be
as you know, I am an intermittent fasting lifestyle.

Craig
I thought that was kind of cute because I’m the one that introduced Intermittent Fasting to them. I talked about it quite a bit on the podcast A while ago, this whole intermittent fasting thing. If any of you are doing it, I’d like to hear about how it is going for you. It has been a lifestyle for my wife and me for Jeepers, almost going on three years now. And I think about it. It is the longest really well, I don’t know about that. But the longest we’ve been able to be on a diet. But I’m just thinking back we did the whole vegetarian thing is supposed to be so good for you for almost a decade. And that’s going to put on most weight, by the way, doing the vegetarian thing. And what else we did, of course, we did the whole thing with a low carb diet. The Atkins diet I lost a lot of weight on the Atkins. Then there were some others, but this is one that’s a lifestyle that I think we can live with for the rest of our lives. So hey, if you’re looking to improve your health, that’s I think the most important thing or and really at the same time you’re going to lose fat, not necessarily weight from time to time you’ll go a while without weight loss, but you’ll be losing fat you’ll be losing inches. A check it out, you know it’s free. I don’t sell it. It’s called intermittent fasting. If you’re not doing it, man, you should probably get on that bandwagon because it’s a very healthy one. Take care, everybody. I’ll be back with my weekend show. We release it on podcast sometimes as early as Friday. But usually, it comes out on Saturday. So keep an eye out for that this week. It might be a little bit early, because I’m going up to can-a-da, to Canada for their Thanksgiving celebrations up with family up there. At least that’s the plan. We’ll see how it all goes. So I might end up having the show up a little bit earlier than usual even this week. Anyways, take care. Talk to you later. Bye-bye.
