Mara McFadden – 4Moms
Airing Date: April 16, 2016
Craig Peterson: We’re gonna talk right now with 4Moms about a problem they’ve solved that pretty much every mom or dad that has little kids has had over the past. They have a number of different products that we will be talking about. Kinda combining robotics and some real high tech stuff to help make our kids a little bit safer. Welcome.
Mara McFadden: Thank you. Thank you so much for having me.
Craig: So let’s talk a little bit about this. You’ve founded this? Are you the founder? Where do you fit in to this whole thing?
Mara: I’m not the founder. I’m the director of product management at 4Moms. And I’ve also been the lead Product Manager on the new car seat that we’re launching today.
Craig: Alright. Let’s talk about the car seat that can kinda auto-install. How does that all work?
Mara: Absolutely. It installs itself. So we know that 4 out of 5 car seats are actually installed incorrectly. And that means, of the 32 million kids out there in car seats today, 24 million of them or more are in unsafe car seats. So we thought this is a problem that we can do dramatically better. So 4Moms designed a car seat that actually installs itself. At a push of a button it levels and tensions and it continuously monitors every time the child is in the car seat to make sure they’re securely installed throughout the entire ride.
Craig: What does it do if they’re not?
Mara: It sounds an alarm so it lets the parent know that something’s unsafe so they can go and give them step-by-step instructions on how to fix it.
Craig: Makes it very simple. Now where can people find out a little bit more? Are these products available? I know you just announced some of these.
Mara: We just announced them. They’re gonna be launching this summer. So they’ll be available at Buy Buy Baby specialty stores and 4Moms.com. And they can learn more at 4Moms.com.
Craig: Of course that’s a digit 4Moms, or can you do it either way?
Mara: No, the digit 4Moms.com. Yeah.
Craig: Alright. Mara McFadden, thanks for being with us.
Mara: Thank you. A pleasure.
