David Hurwitz – BluBeds

Airing Date: September 19, 2015

Craig Peterson: Have you got Bluetooth headphones? Well, you               know, the little things you use to talk on your phone? You might want to listen in because we have a guest right now that’s gonna talk about how you can keep that Bluetooth headset with you all of the time without having to have it clipped on to your ear. A lot of reasons you might not want to do that. We’re gonna talk about that right now with David Hurwitz, David welcome.

David Hurwitz: Hey Craig! Nice to be here.

Craig: So let’s talk a little bit about this. You have this little BluBed is what it’s called… it’s a…

David: BluBed..

Craig: Little Bluetooth headset holder…

David: Holster.

Craig: Holster… ok.

David: That’s right, holster.

Craig: (Laughs) Let’s get that correct. So the holster, and I’m looking right now on the back of the box, I see it’s clipped on to purses, and pockets…

David: That’s right.

Craig: And you have it on your belt…

David: Right.

Craig: … as well.

David: Yeah. I… I… When I’m at a business event like this, I tend to clip it on to my belt. This is the BluBed holster right here.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: And by the way, about that word, we chose the word holster because what that suggests is it keeps something handy and instantly available.

Craig: Right.

David: As soon as you’re done with it you put it right back in the holster.

Craig: Now, let’s talk about why you might now want to wear those, coz the obvious thing…

David: Right.

Craig: I don’t want to look like an idiot.

David: Don’t want to be the BluBed guy.

Craig: (Laughs)

David: Or don’t want to be Bluetooth guy.

Craig: Bluetooth guy, exactly!

David: That’s right! Don’t want to be Bluetooth guy.

Craig: I know there’s a lot of people who are concerned about the radiation that does come from the transmitters in the Bluetooth headset.

David: Right.

Craig: As well. So, getting it away from your head in that case is probably a good idea.

David: Yup.

Craig: Anything else?

David: Well the main thing is, it’s wonderful to be hands-free.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: To be hands-free is really liberating.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: But we only tend to think of being hands-free in the car.

Craig: Right.

David:  And mostly we’re all using speaker phones in the car for that. I had that built into my car. You’ve probably had it built into your car.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: And you know, uh, Bluetooth speaker phone in the car is fine, especially if you’re alone.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: But if you’re not alone then it’s a little awkward. But more importantly, what about when you are walking around at CES? Or what about if you’re flying from New York to Vegas and you’re walking through JFK?

Craig: Uh huh.

David: Or what about if you’re walking on the streets of San Francisco to go to a meeting or what if you’re riding your bike?

Craig: Uh huh.

David: So you want to be hands-free everywhere if you can get that on the sure. You know, hands-free shouldn’t just be for driving anymore.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: We should be hands-free everywhere. So it turns out, I got frustrated.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: With my headset because it wasn’t always instantly available to me.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: And as a result, the phone would ring and I would, I, I think maybe I had it in my breast pocket, and I would do the pat down…

Craig: I do the same thing all the time you know.

David: Right.

Craig: Where is it?

David: Where is it?

Craig: Because I need my hands. I got to look setting up on the computer.

David: Exactly.

Craig: While I’m on the phone. I’ve got to do all of these things. And you just don’t have it, hence, the holster.

David: Hence the holster. Now you’re wearing, Craig, right now a shirt with a breast pocket. I would tend to put it in my breast pocket.

Craig: But then I’d be a geek. (Laughs)

David: But then, you know I’d go like this: Oh, I’m wearing a t-shirt, I don’t do that often, but I am here because of the message. Well I’m wearing… a lot of men’s dress shirts now don’t have a breast pocket. So then I’d go and do a personal pat down trying to find it.

Craig: (Laughs)

David: The phone’s ringing, anxiety’s rising. And I’m saying I’m probably not gonna do this anymore.

Craig: Right

David: So then I’d give up the benefit of being hands-free everywhere. But I want to be hands-free everywhere coz I’m pulling my roller bag. Or I need to pull my phone out and use it for the reason Steve Jobs intended which was to look up your website.

Craig: You just got me!

David: I got you, right!

Craig: (Laughs) That’s an old site, that one. I gotta… I keep meaning to change that site. I haven’t updated that in years.

David: Well, I don’t want to give anything away but that’s where we found your phone number.

Craig: (Laughs) I knew that was there. Yeah. Well that’s great! So, you’ve got this product out now, where can you find it?

David: You can find it at BluBed .com

Craig: Uh huh.

David: B-L-U-B-E-D. BluBed.com. $19.95.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: We’re just launching it here at CES.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: We just launched it yesterday.

Craig: Right, right.

David: And, two days ago now I guess. My, my, it’s all running together for me here at CES.

Craig: (Laughs) It’s a blur.

David: It’s quite a blur. Great response to it because people want to be hands-free. And especially as phones have gotten bigger. I mean that’s just an old iPhone 5.

Craig: Uh huh.

David: You see people with 6s or 6 plus or the big tabs.

Craig: These phablets, yeah.

David: The phablets, and it’s insane! I saw somebody holding a phablet up to her ear.

Craig: (Laughs)

David: Here at CES and I thought, “That’s crazy!”

Craig: Yeah, yeah. Some of them were awfully big. I appreciate you being with us David. David Hurwitz is our guest. We’ve been talking about BluBed. B-L-U-B-E-D. That’s where you’ll find them online. A Bluetooth holster for that little Bluetooth earbud that you might be…

David: There you go.

Craig: Carrying around with you.  Thanks again.

David: Craig, thank you.
