Recycling Disks the Wrong Way can Bite you!

Recycling old technology is big business. Companies employ life cycle management for their IT hardware. Disposing of used servers, storage, and networking equipment on your own can be expensive and time-consuming and often requires compliance with federal, state, and local electronics disposal laws. Researchers have discovered that almost 60% of used disks listed for sale on the web (eBay, craigslist and by recyclers) had not been wiped clean of recoverable data from the previous organization. Before disposing of any data storage disks, be sure to wipe their contents entirely and then drill them, preventing any chance of recovery.
