How it happened: On November 20, 2019 (sic), All-Star Orthopaedics discovered a hard drive containing x-rays and other diagnostic images was stolen. The information located on the hard drive is not encrypted; however, special software is needed to access the data.

Outcome: All-Star Orthopaedics recognizes the importance of protecting patient information and has implemented new security protocols and safeguards to limit the possibility of the event recurring, including encrypting hard drives before transport.
