Nation-States are no longer interested in just disrupting our politics. Not much money in that.

With armies of cybercriminals, nation-states are going after our businesses with the goal of economic disruption. All they need to do is destroy our reputation. And they’re using deception and out-right lies to start rumors and change search results.

It is hard for companies to detect these types of attacks before they have done damage to the organization. 

These cybercriminals and criminal syndicates generate and placing “fake news” in legitimate publications and on social media for the express purpose of stock manipulation, to damage market competition, or damage an executive’s reputation. It’s grown into a whole industry. There are even public relations firms that help to promote these subversive activities.
